When is radon a problem?
The recommended level in homes is below 100 becquerels per m³. Houses built after 1998 are built with radon protection. In older houses the risk is higher, especially with a basement or a ground-bearing floor.
How do you measure radon?
- A dosimeter for 2-3 months in the living rooms.
- Best between October and April.
- An accredited laboratory.
You will not have time to measure before buying. So look at the radon risk map for the area and the build year, and measure in the first winter.
