What it costs

What does mould removal cost in a house?

In short: treating a small area costs a few thousand kroner. If the mould is in the structure (loft, walls, floor), materials have to be replaced and the cause fixed, and the bill can be many times higher. Only an on-site assessment by a professional gives an exact price.

What drives the price of mould removal?

  • Where the mould is: on a wall surface is cheaper than in the timber of the loft.
  • The area: a few m² or a whole loft.
  • The cause: without fixing ventilation or a leak, the mould comes back.
  • Whether materials must be replaced: plasterboard, insulation, timber.

How do you find mould before buying?

  • A musty smell in the loft or basement.
  • Dark patches on rafters, in corners and behind furniture.
  • Condensation on windows in winter.
  • Loft "not inspected" in the report: nobody has checked the risk.

An extended ejerskifteforsikring may cover mould; the basic one usually does not. Read the terms.
